We get asked about supplement recommendations all the time. And lately, it’s been all about electrolytes. best electrolyte powder

My team and I have tried dozens – I mean dozens – of electrolyte powders, drinks, and liquids over the years. And we’ve come to find that the vast majority of them (including a few viral ones online) contain unnecessary ingredients like artificial sweeteners and sugar.

Even if a product is labeled “sugar-free” and contains ingredients like stevia, it actually counteracts any hydrating effects you’re looking for. Stevia is considered a diuretic, meaning that it increases the speed at which the body expels water and electrolytes from the body in urine. In short, that supplement you’re paying for is just expensive pee. Stevia is also known to cause gut flora imbalances (Paul Saladino goes into detail on it here), and has also been known to negatively impact fertility.

After trying (and tossing) numerous electrolyte blends, we narrowed down our top four. Here are our go-to electrolyte supplements that contain zero sugar, zero artificial sweeteners, and provide hydration you can actually feel. best electrolyte powder

Best Flavored Electrolyte Powder: Promix Hydration Electrolyte Drink Mix

Unlike any other flavored electrolyte out there, this one *does not* contain any stevia, artificial sweeteners or natural flavors. Instead, it contains only grapefruit oil and grapefruit juice to give it a refreshing flavor without any “fake,” artificial taste. If you’re the type of person who prefers some flavor to your electrolytes, this one is the best we’ve tried!

Promix electrolytes are available in single-serving packs (perfect for travel/on the go) and a jar (great for at-home use.)

Most Versatile: Bodybio E-Lyte Liquid Electrolytes

The one downside I’ve encountered with most electrolyte powders is that they often don’t blend into liquids well. That’s why I love Bodybio’s E-Lyte liquid electrolytes. One small cap-full of the liquid supplement blends perfectly into any beverage, making it extremely versatile. And if you’re not a fan of an overly salty taste, this one isn’t as sodium-concentrated as others.

If you want an option thats travel-friendly or just prefer something on the go, their 4oz bottle is perfect. I keep one of their 4oz bottles in my travel carry-on and my 16oz bottle at home for daily use.

Best Electrolyte Powder: Redmond Re-Lyte (Unflavored)

If you want a simple, nutrient-dense + salty electrolyte, this one is for you.

Redmond Re-Lyte is designed to have the ideal nutrient ratio (2:1 sodium: potassium ratio) and other crucial electrolytes for cell performance. It also contains Calcium carbonate, which makes it easier to mix and calorie-free.

While there are more than a few Redmond Re-Lyte flavors out there, all of them (other than the unflavored) contain ingredients like stevia and natural flavors. The unflavored option is simple, nutrient-dense, and all you really need for an electrolyte.

Redmond Re-lyte comes in single-serving packets or a 13-oz jar.

Best Overall: Quinton Marine Plasma Hypertonic

Quinton Marine Plasma Hypertonic is a natural seawater supplement sourced from nutrient-rich plankton blooms off the coast of France. It is designed to provide an extremely bioavailable concentration of minerals and trace elements, making it our top choice for electrolyte replenishment.

What makes Quinton Marine Plasma extremely unique is how it’s harvested. The nutrients are derived from vortex plankton blooms where unique biological activity known as biocenosis occurs. The collected seawater then undergoes a meticulous cold microfiltration process to remove impurities while preserving its natural, bioavailable composition.

While the nutrient content may seem lower than other products listed above, the micronutrient density, trace mineral profile, and bioavailability make Quinton our top choice for restoring and maintaining optimal electrolyte levels. It’s one of those products that provides benefits that you can actually feel – and there are plenty of 5-star reviews that argue the same.

One potential downside to the product is that they come in ampules – little glass, single-serving vials. I’ve had a few vials break in transit, which is a shame given their high price point. You also have to be a little careful when cracking them open.

The price point is also pretty high compared to our other top choices, although the product quality justifies it for us.
